The cam is up and running and the male is on his way.  (Sorry I didn't get a lighter picture earlier in the day. )

spring is arriving

Now in better daylight, it looks like it is tipping down on the right side much more than last year.  The part of the tree sticking up seems to have split during the winter.  I wonder if this nest will still be acceptable to the storks?

The male made it back safely. Now to wait for the female.

I´m curious if/how they will repair the nest.

While waiting for his lady love to arrive, Karl has been busy building up the nest walls, but it sure doesn't leave a lot of room in the middle for growing storklets.

No, I don't think that she does.  Her arrival will have to be a surprise.

I was crossing my fingers for the egg to come yesterday but they were late. Maybe because of the snow...

Actually, it was an Easter egg.  It was in the nest when I checked on Easter morning, but I didn't get to post the picture until yesterday evening; which would have been Monday already in your time zone.

A second egg was laid on Wednesday



Not much room for any more storklets when they are hatched.  I hope there are not too many more eggs to come.

You are correct, Garina!  There is another egg this morning under the snow covered daddy.  Poor things look so cold.




Time to switch places

Usually they lay the eggs each other day. What can be a problem is that they only start covering the eggs on the second egg so that the chicks don't have much difference but this year because of the snow they started brooding on the first egg. I really hope that they don't lay more eggs and that the younger storklet will not be much smaller than the others

Now this is when I start to get apprehensive -- there is no way that there is enough room in that tiny nest bowl for four growing storklets.
