Re: Junttila BIRD FEEDER CAM is broadcasting !!
I am back home now and I see that the cam had gone offline. I am booting my PC and then I will connect the cam again.
The first chick is doing great, it is soon almost dry. It is chirping which is good, it will activate the others. The second egg/chick I am worried about. It has made a hole and is alive but I can see a lot of blood. It seems that the blood vessels that are in the membrane are not closed off yet but the chick still tries to hatch. I cannot do much except wait and hope.
The third egg also has a tiny hole in the shell but the membrane is still covering it.
Fingers crossed that this will work out and chick nr 1 will get siblings!

Chick ONE and chick THREE are now in a brooder, a plastic box with a 60 watt lamp. Sadly the light is too bright for the cam to give good pics... But it is up and the sound too. ONE has eaten a bit already!!! They have hard boiled egg yolk with a grain/seed mix.
Chick TWO is still in the incubator. It did not look good at all. But now when no one is picking on it, it actually is sitting up

Ok, some pics:
This is their new home
first only ONE and THREE moved in...
Meanwhile nr TWO was recovering in the incubator - it looked really bad for a while.....
But now it looks better! Nr TWO is still abit paler in color after the bloodloss but at least now everything is calm.

The cam will not be online now. The heat lamp is just too bright, it is impossible to see anything clearly. I will take pics every now and then of course.
I will, at some point, try and introduce these buggers to a hen - miracles happen - someone just might take to the chicks. It would be perfect. I do not count on it, but I will try.
Oh - and a video from last night - it is not as bad as it looks . Nr ONE is pecking a bit on the siblings, this keeps them alert and keeps them going. The weak one is still wet here, but during the night it has fully dried up.
Here they are all this morning:

No no, they don't need me now. They have food and the bigger ones will teach the little one to eat whenand if it is ready for that.
At the moment they need rest and warmth. Nature will take care of the rest.
Ally and Robin - thanks for keeping me company yesterday on the cam - it was very nice
