Black Grouse Webcam lovers

There are not all that many black grouse (Tetrao tetrix) mating dance display sites that we can reach with a web camera. This time ELISA helps out with the transmission. The site in camera view is an old hayfield, now harrowed. Despite this the grouse come here, although it is a different matter whether they also come into reach of our camera. Before sunrise at least the sounds accompanying the mating dance display, or lek, should be there to hear. The display starts in early morning before sunrise, so it is most convenient for our American viewers. For us it is a part of a long-term commitment: this year we try to find out how and with which technology it should be undertaken.
At other times there is the trilling of larks and the voices of other spring-time birds of open landscapes. Our apologies if there might be little to watch but without reconnaissance, battle shouldn’t be undertaken, and without observant watchers the results would be poor.

Right now I have 2 computers running at the same time. A new one has been installed an hour ago and the old one is also running (I have to copy lots of data now). On one computer the BS cam is running on the other the Black Grouse cam is running

Happily this one is a morning cam!!

Have any of you seen the Grouse play? It is quite funny to watch, they are so very serious. We can see it every now and then around here. But as Ader said, it is early morning business and you would have to be hiding in the playground long before the birds come.
I hope we can see them with the help of this cam!!

In Holland they call the dance of the black grouse cock: bolderen.
The animals are very excited then and see and hear hardly something...

Actually the also dance in the late evening. But less than in the morning...

In 1997 there were on the Holterberg in the province Overijssel
32 cocks and 22 hens.
2007: 15 cocks and 11 hens
2009: 12 cocks and 14 hens.

And yet there is a road sign that warns for fly overs: the black grouse! A bit too optimistic I think, but you should not drive
fast there...it is a very beautiful area!

This sign is actually very good!! Yesterday we almost collided with a male grouse!!
It flew so low, that it would have hit the windscreen if we had been driving any faster....

ha ha ..oops!
btw,there moved one white something..like there are little sand road and someone had traveled by bicycle

they shout their own name! kievit..kievit..wiet..wiet.

Last night I heard the "kievit-calls" in this cam even round midnight, now there are larks singing, crows calling and lapwing-calls!

There must have been a bird on the cam, it rumbled and it has cleaned bis bill, you could hear that and now it left..
