Seems to me that it is breeding time now, you might have seen a dispute between 2 males.

Breeding

Male and female badgers, called 'boars' and 'sows', both reach maturity when they are just over 1 year old. They usually mate in the spring, with most births in the following February. This seems a long 'pregnancy', but it takes up to 9 months for the embryo to implant in the womb. Development in the womb (the 'gestation' period) is only 7 weeks. Usually, there are 2 or 3 cubs born in each litter, but single cubs and quadruplets (4 cubs) are not uncommon. Less than 50% of cubs survive to adulthood.

Mating season actually is in early spring (March/April) for older females and in July/August for young females.

There seem to be a few exceptions, though, as the badgers I saw showed Anyway my observation was quite untypical for May...

We will not see Mr. Shovel unfortunately...
But the Carcass Cam beginning yet in this month.

Is a corpse finally there!!

During about half an hour a tawny owl, Strix aluco, was calling...
sound was so lonely and sad...
But now a second tawny owl was answerering...and then a plane
covered their voices..

One of the evenings a little animal ran cross with a tail held, up big hopped. It looked bigger at a mouse, may have been a rat possibly. A throughsh was an afternoon at the corpse .

I have such a bad luck, I have not seen a single animal yet....
But yesterday I heard wood pigeins - sounded so unreal as we don't have them in the winter
