Very quiet at the feeding ground.... Must be very cold in Ilmatsalu too, in Tartu it is -26 at the moment.
I just checked our temp
-29C, coldest so far.
In Helsinki it is "only" -20C. Something odd happend there Friday afternoon - it started to snow, lots of snow!!! It is very rare taht it snows when it is this very cold. All traffic in was completely a mess. Many snow ploughs did not start because of the cold. Thankfully Juha saw that it started to snow and came home before the big mess started. Here at us, 90 km away from Helsinki, we did not see any snow, just a very cold sunshine.

Anyway it´s no sound that roe deer make.
Might be white-tailed deer´s call - I think I have once heard something similar in some American videos...

I know

I was thinking that maybe the photographers made these calls for whatever reason...

Now I know who this hunter is
It was his dog that attacked Robin's dog, Liki..... And then the hunter chased his dog away and the dog fell into the pond by the lodge and couldn't get up because it was too fat... so the hunter had to go in and fetch her....

The sound reminded me of someone I once heard trying to imitate a deer mom calling her calf.. but no calf answered!
Nice that the hunter brought some food, but how is Mait? Not ill I hope,
we did not see him the last days, or did you?

I think I know what sound you mean (it´s "mahnen" in German). But that is only used by red deer - roe deer moms calling her fawns use quite a high sound ("fiepen")...

We have many white-tailed deer in the area that pass through and graze in my backyard, and I have never heard that sound.
