I think I know what sound you mean (it´s "mahnen" in German). But that is only used by red deer - roe deer moms calling her fawns use quite a high sound ("fiepen")...
Yes, you are right, but I did not mean an animal made the sound but some
silly human being..Just like some people start neighing like a horse when they
see one in a meadow...rather stupid.
Now I listened to the call once again and without other sounds in the background,
and must say: Yes it could have been a jay! I think Okaskera is right!
And Ricky of course too..I have a Reh-fiep (what do you call it..) and know how
to use it for different animals and sounds.

Its a jay not some stupid photographer or hunter
Jays can make so many weird calls...

Anyway it´s no sound that roe deer make.
Might be white-tailed deer´s call - I think I have once heard something similar in some American videos...
We have many white-tailed deer in the area that pass through and graze in my backyard, and I have never heard that sound.
I just checked on youtube - white-tailed deer´s calls are not very similar to the sound we heard in the video. No wonder you haven´t heard it yet

It´s called "Blatter" in German. Great that you know how to use it. I obviously still have to learn how to use mine properly as so far only few deer (but many other animals like woodpeckers, buzzard and a boar

It is very interesting to see what you can do with that "Blatter"
but it even can be dangerous to use it!
In Leutasch Obern, mountains, forest and meadows where almost
always roe deer walk around I once saw a beautiful big roebuck.
It was not in the rut cq mating time, but at the other side of a small
road there was a doe that however payed no attention at all to the buck.
I was sitting in my car and tried the "whistle" softly...The buck stopped
eating grass and looked in my direction. I was sure he could not see
me and tried it once again. The buck did not wait a second: came up
in my direction, saw the doe, but not that she was not interested at all, jumped over the fence and crossed the street just before a car arrived and ran up
to the doe...Then he must have noticed that this doe was not amused
and there and then he stopped...and looked in every direction...a bit
ashamed I guess.
But I was very shocked..it was too stupid..if it had come to a collision between buck and car it would have been my fault...Nobody could have
known I had caused it, but I never in life would have forgotten it!
So I learned a lot in Austria, not only the use of such a thing but especially not to use it when it could be dangerous!
At Kettner in Insbruck I bought this small thing, looks like the one on
this picture, easier to show this than make a good picture of mine....

Internet picture

And this is mine "Blatter" .
Mine is just 6 cm long and is, with a lipstick, a tiny pocketknife and other things, always in my handbag! Don't laugh!!!

Re: ESTONIAN WILD PIG CAM 2011 -2012

Who knows what happened to the cam? Cables ruined by a boar, long legs of an elk tangled in them, woodpecker picked them into small
pieces? Or is a snowman in construction...however the temperatures
for a good workable snow are much too low...

Did Okaskera got stuck with his snowmobile in a cable...

Whatever it may be, I hope nobody has got problems at the ground and will be capable to repair it!

Even on a Sunday. Good luck and many, many thanks!

The cables are not on the ground so I don't think it is that. Rather something that cut the internet connection. Maybe a short powercut? Everything would have to be restarted and maybe okaskera is not around just now.
I am sure someone will repair it as soon as they can
