My "bing translator" translates it as "peeve", that I don't know what it is. It translates into French as "bête noire" that is something that follows you like a shadow…
It is that?
(but Bisky also notices the numbers , it's only me who…)

A friend, many years ago, lived in Mozambique. Everyday his mother gave small pieces of bread to the birds that were in front of her window. And everyday a beautiful lizard (in Africa there are very coloured lizards with some 30 cm) showed up. She was delighted with it. My friend didn't had the courage to explain her that in fact she was feeding the lizard: he came all the time to catch one of the birds that were eating her bread.
(I guess squirrels don't eat birds? )
Re: ALLY'S DEN
only one mine friend hates squirrels, he say that squirrels are like a rats the other people all like squirrels, but what dr. Google found:
A compound food animal whose menu consists mainly of plant seeds, spruce cones, acorns, hazelnuts, etc. Squirrels also like to eat chicks and eggs, snails, insects. Stores food supplies for the winter.
but your lizzard story is pure nature circle story

That's very interesting what zoos do: they keep exchanging animals in order that there is no consanguinity.

It is so nice to see a country where people can gather together closer than 6 feet apart and not have to wear a mask.

of course we need to wear masks indoors and in transport, but you know we are littlebit wild nation....we like to be in nature and breathe fresh air (if people going from shop, first thing is take off the mask) and if its going colder...this cold kill that virus (there are fewer cases these days). keep your hope up!

Re: ALLY'S DEN
That's nice! And very important.
In Portugal there are some signs warning about frogs but in roads where it's impossible to control anything. And that they cannot close... It would be better to have some nets that stop the frogs and people go there to help them (I think Ricky did that in Austria).
Or at least to have those signs in the smaller roads around that could have limited traffic
