I think that the hills are blocking their view to Koszeg. Yes, I miss him also; but it is good that he is so busy. We have a saying: time is money!

Ergee, you can come here and listen to the cicada (locust) choir that we have been experiencing all day long for over a week now!

I have taken a lot of pictures and some videos so you all can hear the sound. Hopefully I can get them posted later this evening for you to see tomorrow morning.

Re: Where is OPHIOPHAGUS???
Good morning Ophi!
And what about the wonderful garden near my former home??
Roses and all other flowers and plants to please you!
Want a coffee??
Garden, right side, on the right upper corner of the terrace is a small path through the grass
leading through an opening in the fence to neighboursgarden and further to Speedys (real) home, he was getting older and I did not want him to jump up and off the fence any longer.
Left side and terrace with little pond with fountain and goldfishes and a frog or toad..Sorry Ricky at those times I did not know much about them!
His name was Fridolin (der Erdkröte) and like an artist on the trapeze, he climbed the low net around the water to get into the garden and back into the water. That was soo funny, and you could watch it, he was not that shy!
The net was against fishing cats! Sometimes on warm evenings and in the night, he croacked a bit, in a soft voice and not often repeating...
A few days before the removal-van came I gave my gardentable and
bench with the cushions and tablecloth to my neighbour Gerti, so the cats, Speedy and his sister Sheba could use them like before.
When, after half a year, I visited Gerti, and Speedy could hear me he at once came and jumped on my lap or sat next to me...He was healthy and also got his food there!
Home and garden were really beautiful but too much work and too expensive to have
a gardener every week...
Some roses on a balcony and the views must be enough now.

Re: Where is OPHIOPHAGUS???
Hello Everybody!
From Sundaymorning, 19.06.2011, till Tuesdayevening or Wednesdaymorning I will not be at home...so no pics etc.
Donna is not 100 % healthy, needs penicilline twice a day, and her
masters are , with delay, leaving to Spain.
The lady that will take care of her in her own house ( with 12 labradors) comes on Tuesday to look if she can take Donna with her.
As long as Donna is not totally sound she will stay with Polle and me..
After Wednesday I probably can go home in between..and maybe be at home the nights. We will see!
As far as I know now the period that I will be mostly with Polle and the house and garden and plants there, will be till 7 or 8 July!
But, please, keep me informed about all that happens, when I drop in at home I'll read it!
Today and most of the Saturday I'll be still at home.

Re: Where is OPHIOPHAGUS???
Donna has a "hotspot": what a nonsence-word in this case because one of the translations is:
internet-connection..she absolutely has not! She is not even electric charged!
She has an inflammation on her head above the neck, a bare spot and there is a wound, first they thought from a tick, but now the vet has said it could be from rusty barbed wire..
Because of the surgery she might be a bit weaker than before...she
had a light fever but with the penicilline it seems to be slightly better already. She can not go to the other house with the 12 labradors because those dogs could lick the wound and it would not heal...
But she will be sound and safe very soon, she is a rather young and
powerfull lady dog! The pen.pills I have to give her she takes without I have to
put them in a piece of sausage..you only have to tell her she should take and eat this and not spit it out.
M. told me that the first time Donna got a pil she really did spit it out..M told her she has to eat it to get better soon and than she can go to other dogs etc.etc. The words are not so important..the fact that you talk with her and be kind to her does it...Then she gives in and does what you want.
We shell see...And she has to get somewhat less food, Ok!
I'm curious to see if Polle and she are still so close...

Re: Where is OPHIOPHAGUS???
Oh, hotspot!! It usually occurs when the dog (or child - Saga had it last summer) gets a tiny little wound and some bacteria (usually Stafylococcus) gets into it. As the weather has been rather warm it developes into a nasty looking infected spot, especially if the dog's fur has been wet for longer periods (does Donna swim often?). But with antibiotics and keeping the wound dry (swimming is not allowed!!) it will heal nicely. It is very contagious so it is good that Donna is not seeing other dogs yet. At least 4 or 5 days of antibiotics is needed to be sure that not the other dogs get it.
I have seen this so many times in our dogs - retrievers and other water loving dogs get it very often in summer. Donna will be just fine!! Her immune system is probably not yet 100% after the operation and antibiotics but you can help her by giving her live "good bacteria". probiotics, that you can either buy as pills or then buy yoghurt that has these bacteria added. I would prefer the pills, as they contain 100 times more of the good stuff and you can just mix it in with the food. Our Alli is still on those and will be for at least all of June.

Re: Where is OPHIOPHAGUS???
Yes, of course Donna will be fine!
I'm absolutely convinced that Donna gets all the love and attention, all the things, all the food and medical treatments and medicaments she needs and nobody wants me to buy things and give them to her.
Her folks give her what she needs and I would not be able to do it better!

Re: Where is OPHIOPHAGUS???
Dear ergee, I did not at all suspect that Donna is not taken care of, God forbid!! And I did not mean thet YOU should buy anything for her!! I used the word "you" as meaning "anyone", third person - just telling about the wonderful natural probiotics, that are so good for us humans aswell.
Many vets still don't recommend these, which is a shame, as many antibiotic courses after each other can really lower the immune defence.

83 of his year ages deceased the actor Peter Falk.
Peter Falk was born in New York in 1927, but we may find Hungarians between his ascendants. Falk Miksa was his great-grandfather for example, who was the (Buda-)Pester Lloyd ( weekly paper) general editor, and her was the Hungarian Scientific Academy's member . Peter Falk grew up in a Italian community, many people believed it because of this that he with Italian ancestry.
Bye, bye Columbo...
