Wow, I cannot remember so few of us checking in over a 24 hour period. I am busy trying to get the house ready for house guests next week.

My husband's best friend is coming from Nevada to celebrate their 65th birthdays on Monday and Tuesday, and then family is traveling from Chicago to celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday Wednesday through Sunday.

At least Cooper will be thrilled by all the attention.

I am sure that this is only a temporary thing - no real cams to watch and nature is not really very inviting either.

Soon there should be a lot more activity (I hope... )...............

Bisky, you are having a busy time!! Big birthday parties and Thanksgiving!!! That is one holiday that I wish Europe would start celebrating - I think it is a very nice custom. But.... as there is not really any commercial profit in it - it will probably not happen.
Halloween and Valentine.... those are made "popular"..... sigh.....

In the morning it was very foggy but around noon the mountains were visible for a while. And I finally saw what the weather of the last days had caused: Snow above 1900m above sea level. The avalanche danger is not very high at the moment, but high enough to better stay below the tree line.

The basketball team started the season magnificently, what somebody else could disturb the holidays?

Today the snow alomst reached Lienz. In the morning the snow line was only 200m of altitude above Lienz.
When the temperatures rose some of the snow melted, but quite a lot stayed. Now it´s raining again and it sould be snowing about 1000m of altitude above Lienz.
The avalanche danger above the tree line is still the same - no way to go there...

We can't hold the winter back - we just have to live with it... somehow.... But still I prefer snow to the muddy gray rainy weather

I either want to have real snow or no snow at all.
This snow that falls and melts within a few hours is not that nice.

Some 20cm of snow followed by cold weather would be nice. Then there should be little avalanche danger (above the tree line) and there would be a beautiful winter landscape...

Yes, yesterday evening it started snowing. In today´s morning it was still snowing - quite heavily


Some remote valleys had power cuts.
Now the snowfall has stopped and the snow started melting but the landscape is still completely snow-covered.

Ricky, the snow is beautiful! It is 17 degrees here this morning, but we are expecting Deb's cold weather by Thursday (without the snow).

in springfild only 4°C, how cooper felt this suddenly colder weather? did he sat near fireplace all day?

He did not seem to mind the heavy rain last night or the cold weather this morning.

His parents live where it is very much colder and snowier than we experience in the winter so I am sure that was passed along in his breeding. Golden retrievers have a very thick undercoat that helps to keep them dry and warm when out hunting with their owners.

However, the fireplace sounds like a good place today for me!

Fireplaces are always nice, but in summer it is a bit hot in the house if you start heating....

why humans not have thick undercoats??
