Good Morning!

Yes, we are all fine.  It was quite a storm, but our area was not hit nearly as hard as other areas north of us.  The news is reporting as many as 17 tornadoes touched down across the state.  

It started out as a beautiful, sunny, and very warm morning (22.7 C).  By late morning, the wind started and the dark clouds covered the sky.  The heavy rain, hail, and high winds only lasted about 10 minutes here with no tornado; and we have not heard of any real damage to buildings in our neighborhood.  We do have a lot of small tree branches scattered about, but all our trees are still standing.

Luckily our son was making his usual Sunday visit to see Cooper, so we didn't have to worry about his safety.  By early afternoon, it was sunny and beautiful again, although much cooler.

    I appreciate your concern -- we were extremely fortunate.  Our prayers go out to those who lost everything in this awful storm.

geesh, this picture is awful....our storms are never so devastating (one, two roofs fly off...but never all village or city destroyed). hope they get new houses soon?! could they get help from government?
and nice to hear that your family and cooper not had to suffer these tornados

It really is difficult to find a place where I can post
this picture because I must tell you that

Mr. Spikey

died this morning.

He had cancer and he was so thin and weak and
was full of malignant tumours that caused terrible
pains. You saw him tremble for pain and he could no more eat etc. There was no other solution..last year
there were almost the same symptoms when he was
in the animal-clinic. After that it seemed to be somewhat better but all started again...His bosses had to take the decision to stop his suffering....

This morning the vet came and helped the
poor dog by stopping  his aches and let him find a
painless dead. He was 13 years old now.

Throughout 4 years he was a very beloved member
of J en A's daily life, during their holidays he was in
Germany, Swiss, Italy, in the snow on the Gotthard
and on the beach of the North Sea in France, everywhere were they
travelled he was with them and they were a real
great trio.
He has been brought to "his countryhousegarden" now and
may rest in peace there...

Such sad news.

its really sad if such good friend passing off.....but he gave good memories in his life....you all can hold these )

Can you see the difference between this picture and the
picture of poor Spikey that I posted last 18th Dec.?

Someone who knows A and J told them that in the
Dierenasyl Kampen.nl  there is a dog of the same breed like Spikey...
This dog is also a Shih Tsu and between 1 and 3 years old.
On Friday 27th they will go to see him...they spoke
already with the leader of this animal-home...

Some friends say it is too early to get another dog, but why??  They never will forget Mr. S, and they are absolutely sure they want to have a dog of the same breed, not too big aso , they love
to take care of an animal so why not go to see Mr. Max?
Why let this poor creature staying longer in the asyl as necessary?
I'm very curious to know what will happen...and do
hope that these 2 people and this dog will meet soon and will start a long and healty and happy life together!

this is really like...christmas story.
mr.max seems like mr.s....but i guess, he have different in caracter, but...i guess, this IS interesting for new owners, too
i wish them nice and interesting life together, too

Just got a phonecall:

MR. MAX is on his way, by car with A en J, to
me!!!

They could take him with them at once,from the asyl in
the city of Kampen, about 120 km from where they
live and now they can be here in about half an hour.
Seems to be a doggy that knows what he wants
but still rather easy to handle if you know dogs...
He is laying in the car now and sleeping...
I'll put some water for him in the kitchen and I still
have dog's food and some dog-cookies...
I'll make a picture when they are here and show it
to you...

Such a cute and merry dog! Playing with the things
I presented him and he has eaten the chickenmeat
I had prepared for him and the water was welcome too. Discovered the things in the room and on the balcony, even told me that he also loves roses!
J&A are soo happy with him, of course it hurts that
Mr. Spikey is dead but they absolutely will give Mr. Max a wonderful home, they really love him already!
They took the responsibility for this animal and he will be very glad to live together with them.
Is the weather is ok, no rain, they will show him
the country house tomorrow. There he can run and
bring back balls and sticks aso.

This really is love at first sight  from both sides!

I love the close up shot of his sweet little face!  I am so happy for all of you! 

He is such a cute one...and behaves like he knows us
for years already!

Just found that temp. in Springfield, Illinois would be
- 20 C....I hardly can believe that!
Please Bisky, tell us what is right and how are people
in Springfiel doing!
In the east  of the country and at the coast it must
be terrible as we could see on tv.

Is there a webcam in Springfield we could see??

Yes, we have been having wickedly cold weather yesterday and today.  There is arctic air moving down through much of the country that is not used to such cold temperatures.  Thankfully, it will get above zero  Fahrenheit today, and the temperatures will continue to rise the rest of the week.

Schools and many businesses have been closed Monday and today; and with a 7-inch snowfall on Sunday, the roads are still quite hazardous but are improving today.  As the temperature rises, the salt used to melt the ice and snow on the roads will finally be able to do its job.

Here is a link to a webcam that is in downtown Springfield -- we live about 10 miles south of there. The cam that is closer to us is currently not working.

A. mailed me that Mr Max had a simple, but for him important, surgery;
and now he never will be: father!

So he could get the  familyname :  Mr Max Man-ex!

It happened Thursdaymorning and in the afternoon
he was home already and rather hungry and thirsty,
everything is OK! He wears a nice blue garment to
prevent him licking the scar, pity that I did not see
him for a picture...
     

Glad to hear that he is recovering quickly!

today many people walked with red balloons...it was nice...and my customers wished good wishes ...but one little boy gave me tiny little caramel...it was so sweet )
