LATVIAN LSE CAM
The cam is up again this year but has a new address: mms://video1.lanet.lv/ligzda
For some reason I can't get the link to work in VLC but it works fine in WMP.
The nest has already had visitors (according to LK).

I feel a little ashamed.. I have not watched this cam much during the last week ...
The bird was sleeping in the nest when I looked this morning
Then she stood up and there is an egg
The male arrived for a quick visit
Turnes out the egg is layed on the 27th in the evening....

The eggs had been alone for more than an hour. Now a parent bird is close by. And that makes the trush go nuts again

Re: LATVIAN LSE CAM
I think there is a chick in the Latvian nest!! I can hear it from time to time. And mama is not laying down as she usually does. The pic is so bad now so its no use to take any pics. Maybe we can see better in the morning.

Re: LATVIAN LSE CAM
The chick is taken away:
Things are complicated.... Now there is another Latvian LSE cam under the same address. This couple have one chick.
The story about the old nest seems to be that the eggs they had where infertile. So a just about ready to hatch egg from a German LSE nest was brought in. Probably this disturbance or the fact that the incubation time was far gone, resulted in the female leaving the nest for good. The chick hatched but the female did not come back. That is why they saved the chick. And as there is probably no more activity in that nest, they cahnged over to this nest that can now be seen.
Honestly a bit disappointing.... Tuuli's cam is gone and poor mom and dad on the old LSE nest.... it did not work out for them.
Hopefully this new pair, Grieta and Gints, will be able to raise their chick.
At least the cam view is quite good.

Re: LATVIAN LSE CAM
Is there no end to all sadness in Latvia??
I checked the cam.... and this is what I saw - an empty nest
Or can the chick be hiding there?? Or - has it fallen? Has another bird of pray got it??
Scary.....

Re: LATVIAN LSE CAM
I have been trying to read the Latvian forum... seems that everyone there are as confused, no one knows what has happend!
Edit: Seems that there has been strong winds last night and the chick has fallen. Nothing has been found beneath the nest so most probably a marten or something like that has got it.
Very sad
