Good morning Ally!
The natural way might be to eat the dead kitten, but here???
I would like to read about the new born and when the first
was born aso aso ..but the Zoo does not give any news, or???
Do they have a program where we can read about it??
Or do you know more already??

Re: ALLY'S DEN
Darlal left for a moment that "room" and the little one was calling immediately,
impatient and with a loud voice...probably a man!! Darlal came back at once, stood there for a moment and looked at the young with a strange look..as if she was surprised...
Might be possible that Darlal will eat the dead one..she moved it
some times and sniffed on it...
Nature...

Good morning, how are you today? And what about the high water
in Rakvere and Tartu?? Not at your home I hope!
Did you see news about Darlal? Google does not translate the
commends under the pictures...has there been born a new young
or not? And the dead one is still there I see. Can understand that it
is not possible to move it out without bring the other in danger...
Have a nice day and weekend!

Re: ALLY'S DEN
I copied our Darla discussion from the owl thread and moved it here. I will delete it in the owl thread. Poor Ophy will get a heart attack otherwise
caysa:
Awwww!!!!
You went to Zoo today???? Did you get any more info about Darla???
Ally:
i saw only freddy to makes circles arround stump and hassan and hanka
but they have news in zoo's hompage
http://loomaaed.ee/index.php?ide=20&shownews=152
and people have seen that darlas belly is moving all wait one kitten more.....maybe its born to night?.
caysa:
It seemes very unlikely that one pup is born so much later after the other ones..... I don't think it will happen.
The movements are probably post contractions, that occur especially when Darla is feeding the baby...
Ally:
zoo direktor said that leopards have two uterus and then the oher cubs may born day or two after first cubs
caysa:
hmm yes - cats and dogs have a uterus that is like a Y and they usually empty one "horn first and have a slight pause and then they empty the other one. But it would be really rare to have such a long time in between this....
I would not count on it. Usually it is only maybe two hours max between this..
Ally:
in there leopards forum if that theme was, one catowner said that her cat once had 2+2 kittens and last ones was after 24 hours, last year i remember mati kaal said that there may be more cubs after day, too, but then there was not more cubs
caysa:
Yes, it is possible but very rare and the outcome is not always happy.
We can of course hope that Darla would still have a baby inside
Ally:
we can see that,if in the morning there is one kitten more or not

Re: ALLY'S DEN
Here is a link to Darla's den cam, using this you can open only the cam player in a new window and adjust the window size to fo fit the player.
This way it is easy to see - without all sorts of extra stuff around.

Re: ALLY'S DEN
Thanks, Ally. I have been watching her for a while this morning to see if the "angelcub" was still in the corner. I missed the housecleaning because I think the goat was still there when I logged on this morning (afternoon at the zoo) -- but maybe it was last night that I still saw it.

Re: ALLY'S DEN
Darlal has something in common with some men...
If her head lays with the back on the floor she begins to snore...
like some men are doing sleeping on their back...
Sometimes it is very loud and the little one hears it and moves...
