My computer refuges to make a clear shot of a so-called murderer
that even buried his victim...
This is all that remains from Midi....buried silhouette..

Somebody told - there is too less food for the kids ... not enough mice after the hard winter there.
But perhaps disease too ... .
I keep my fingers crossed - that this one will stay alive.

This really is sad...
I donĀ“t have time to read all posts on LK so I wonder... did the owlet die in a "normal" way or did its brother/sister kill it?

Re: Tawny Owl Camera Lovers
It is sad of course - but nature does what nature has to do.
LK is now mourning - page up and page down. I did not finish reading. But for sure this bird has not been murdered , not even killed! It died.
I was looking at them this morning and the smaller one was laying down. It came to my mind then.... Soon there is only one.
The smaller is still quite visible there, the body has just been moved a bit because the bigger chicks is moving around.
If there is shortage of food.... not even Klaara and Klaus will get enough, which makes them weaker and more tired, which leads to even less successful hunting. We can only hope that they can find anough food for both themselves and the last owlet!

I would say: normal. Getting weaker..in the night sitting on the bigger one..later next to. Then not moving much..Bigger buried it ..but I did not see any movement of picking or such like Spot in the past did.
Klaara came and did nothing .. It is nature....

Re: Tawny Owl Camera Lovers
This is good news - now Klaara can concentrate on hunting!!
Last night it looked like the chick tried to jump to the opening - maybe it will soon leave the nest??

Re: Tawny Owl Camera Lovers
Everyone on LK predicted it would leave the nest a few days ago already
But I guess it feels safe there and lots of space too now as it is alone.
