Alutaguse Bear webcam
WOW!!!

This is going to be very interesting!! Somehow I can hardly believe that a bear is likely to show up exactly there, though

Re: Alutaguse Bear webcam
Well well!! It would be nice to see one tho - maybe we have to set up a scedule so that someone is watching 24/7
Thanks for posting this, I haven't had time to read LK for a long time....
The place looks somehow familiar... did okaskera post a pic of a bears nest?? but this is too far away maybe???
I think the fallen trees, with the roots visible is what was on the pic that was in FB.... But it was a more open area...

I think there is maybe 150 kms between the places. Both near the Russian border tho. And fallen tree roots are typical den spots...

Re: Alutaguse Bear webcam
On LK forum they have seen a bear last night, well early this morning, actually.
Also.. today the cam was covered and some people were heard around. I think it was a ATV they used, what else works?
Anyway - sounds a bit strange that someone comes there, unless.... they bring food for the bears.
If I wake up tonight I need to come here and have a look at the cam for a while...

Re: Alutaguse Bear webcam
Certainly looks like a bear there!! Congrats, Ricky!!
I think that IF you happen to see a bear, or something else, a video could be better than a pic. Even just the shortest video would show a movement.
It is really hard to see anything if it is not moving... But quite interesting!!
I am more and more convinced that they feed the bears - bears move around a lot, it is not typical for it to stay in one spot. So something keeps it/them there. Or then all who saw it were just extremely lucky!!

Re: Alutaguse Bear webcam
I was thinking that it would be a good idea to have a night vision pic where NOTHING is happening. Then it is easier to compare - maybe
This pic is full size so I will add a link too if you want to open it separately: https://2img.net/h/i827.photobucket.com/albums/zz200/caysa2/nightvision.jpg

I saw something dark moving!! Too small to be a bear in my opinion.
I will load the video...

OK, here it is - look by the tree to the right!

I think this animal it has about the same size as the bear - so I think it IS a bear
Once again at the same spot - probably there is some food...

Seems that they want to hide that they put food there?? To give the impression that the bears come their coincidentally??

Does it not sound crazy?? I mean - you can hear them digging... the probably hide the food. And what on earth do they think people think?? Hmmmm.... Maybe we will know some day what it is about. The used a screw driver too.... seems like they secured whatever they put there.

Re: Alutaguse Bear webcam
ergee, it is not serious
Just amazes me how much trouble people go through to hide something. And most probably everyone will guess anyway. For all I care it can be someone's pet bear we are watching

Re: Alutaguse Bear webcam
I had a look at some posts on LK - they call it maintenance...
And they seem to think bears to be more or less undangerous
A "nice story" re this that I read from a German who emigrated to Canada:
Tourist family (parents and quite a small child) saw a grizzly bear on the roadside. The grizzly was not at all timid and looked sooo cute and they didn´t think it to be dangerous. So they put honey on the child´s hand/arm to photograph the bear licking the honey off the child´s arm. The bear thought that licking would last too long so it bit the arm off

Re: Alutaguse Bear webcam
Wow, how stupid can people be????
----
Maintenance..... of what?? bear habitat?? they don't touch the cam or microphone, only thing they do is cover the cam with a camo hat or similar. All this digging and screwing??
Doesn't matter to me but seems very odd and funny.
I should look up a picture before today and compare it, is there any difference to be seen??
But right now I want togo outside, the wethre is good and tomorrow is going to be rainy....

Today, almost the same time
Can we see any differences, except that the picture is not as good as yesterday ??

Re: Alutaguse Bear webcam
I think the camera was moved a tiny bit to the left--but that was probably just the result of removing the cover when they were doing whatever they do in secret.

I also think that almost in the middle where there is a tiny tree stump... like the ground is a bit smoother there I sthat where they digged?? (sheeesh, who knows what they did hide )
