Re: ESTONIAN WILD PIG CAM 2010 -2011
In the "hungerwinter" during WW II people in the Westside of the Netherlands, (flowerbulbfields), ate also tulip bulbs and so .... ( Wash them, handle like an onion, get out the green centre and than cook them about 7 minutes..I would not like to try it....).
Woman, who had still a bike, on her way to get food...potatoes or
flowerbulbs....or what else that could be eaten
Children and grown ups went into the forests to search beechnuts..
somewhere you could have them pressed to get beechnut-oil.

The pigs stay away from the tulip - the real food is much better.

Thank you Ally for all the work you did to show me where Ilmatsalu and other places are situated!
But Google translator tells me that : toidumaja is in English birdfeeder and in Dutch: voederhuisje;
in LK also toidumaja is translated as birdfeeder.
So: I mean the Birdfeeder on the table at the boarsfeedingplace where
dear Mait feeds all kinds of animals...
But it was nice to see the maps you sent us..interesting parts of
beautiful Estonia!

Ally, thank you for the wonderful map! I didn't realize that the islands to the west had so many towns.
And to all the ladies, I totally missed International Women's Day yesterday. I hope is was well celebrated by you all.

You know, ergee, even earlier in the evening I noticed the same - very nervous boars! Coming and going all the time. Maybe someone has spent the evening/night in the hide??

Re: ESTONIAN WILD PIG CAM 2010 -2011
Hello, good morning!
In the evening, some time ago, when Okaskera was in the hide and made the video the boars were not restless..I don't think that is the reason now.
Might be the irrregular wind..every time when there is an extra strong gust, they hear different sounds..and maybe smell other things..they run
before they exactly know whether there is a danger or not..Waiting too
long could be very dangerous, very soon they know it is safe to come back..
Costs a bit of extra energy but not their life!
The saltpole..as far as I can understand..they loved to bite and gnaw
the salted wood..the saltblock interested them not so much..
In boars cam 2 you also could see them gnawing on the saltpole remains...
What will Okaskera think of this??
