Makes me think of "1080 poison"
No, of course not: the symptoms of this poison are totally different. But as 1080 poison is one of the most dramatic (and IMHO insane) environmental issues in New Zealnd this came to my mind.
If anyone is interested, here is an outstanding documantry on what is being done with 1080 in NZ

(just as a warning: the video is abosultely worth watching but it contains scenes of cruelty to animals - so don´t watch if you don´t want to see that)

Re: Where is OPHIOPHAGUS???
The Drugs and Narc.Lab declares that the stuff (herbs and powder) that
was found in NZ meadows where Twiggi grazed, is rather harmless for human beings. Probably lost by chupacabras.
Normally it is almost impossible to eat enough of that herbs to get harmed.
Many years ago, a tourist in Amsterdam who spent his holidays there in a room on the 14th floor, has consumed the same or almost specific stuff and also drank some liters of alcohol...and jumped from the balcony of his room while he thought that he could fly like an eagle:
HE COULD NOT!
Probably Twiggy has eaten the same stuff and left our world on a direct
flight into the Heaven for curly, woolly, good sheep...
All investigators: thank you for your useful thinking and working and to all of you : Use the weekend to rest and get new inspiration!

This is completely unknown news to me...I 've never known that this has happened
somewhere on the world and I'm really shocked seeing this video.
Ricky, how did you know about these terrible things?
Sorry that my fantasy-story had such an effect! And to Ricky: Thank you for
showing us what humans can destroy in nature and let us all try to be careful and
let us not forget : We only have ONE world!

Oh my what a story!!!
Sorry that I have not been active for a few days - I have had a bad case of migraine and also I have tried to repair the computer.
BUT..... my puter failed BEFORE I saw this video....
It is certainly worth to check fire walls and virus programs - you neber know what is going on.

Well, New Zealand is a wonderful country and I will probably travel there one day. So I´m always interested everything re NZ and especially its unique nature.

No need to feel sorry!!

Indeed!
I think it´s always good (even if it´s hard) to know what harm is done to nature - especially if financial profit is the motivation. If one doesn´t know one cannot do anything against this. In this case we can´t do much, of course. I signed a petition months ago - I doubt that this will stop 1080 but at least there is hope

Re: Where is OPHIOPHAGUS???
And now I found the news about the fox-cam.
www.volgdevos.nl
Since March 6 the camera's are " on ". Waiting for the foxes
has started. Will they show up this spring again?
A fox family in the Oostvaardersplassen (nature-area).
We will hope that they have better quality than last year..the cam,
the disconnections and the light were not funny!

Hope we can really see them often! Just until now they haven't yet seen foxes. But
the made some things better and also sound at the entrance of the den. And the
geese and other birds you can hear already. But the weather is cold and rainy..should
be dry tomorrow evening...maybe the foxes go home-shopping then!

Re: Where is OPHIOPHAGUS???
For about half an hour I listened to the foxcam-sound on cam 3.
If I had a house close to the foxden, in the Oostvaardersplassen area, I
would move immediately...
All those birds, geese, lapwings, ducks and so many others and moreover the planes...almost no 3 minutes without planes, sometimes even 3 or more at the same moment.
Airport Schiphol Amsterdam is not far....
It would drive me absolutely crazy!!! Being outside in the darkness
would be like a horrortrip...sometimes you think you hear humanvoices
but it will turn out to be a kind of drunken goose!
Turn the sound on and enjoy it... but be careful:
it is at your own risk!!! If you need a psychiatrist you have to pay
for that yourself!
I WARNED YOU!! (But try it out for a moment...you can stop the sound
as soon as you want that! If you are lucky...).
If I where a fox....I would run run run, far far far away ....

Re: Where is OPHIOPHAGUS???
This evening I could hear the warning sound of an angry cat..but some animal in the opening of the foxden....could be a cat and not a fox.
On this picture it is not yet clear what animal it is.
Maybe they (Staatsbosbeheer) owner of this area and of the cam
can tell what they see on the video the have.
In the daytime about 7 in the morning and once at aboud 11 pm
a fox has been seen.
It's really a shame that the view is soo bad...

Re: Where is OPHIOPHAGUS???
If you go to: volgdevos.nl and look at: logbook, and than
Bekvechten bij de burcht...you can see a video.
In that video you can see the foxpic I made too and a second fox.
They are quarreling close to the entrance.
So it was not a cat making that warning sound but a fox, with the
ears pressed flat on his head, as the fox-man from the fox dept
writes.
Seems that I was again at the right time looking, but I won't look much
there...for me it's too ...don't find the right word, too simple..
ennoying...

He certainly gets my votes! (I grew up in Chicago, a town famous for gangsters and election fraud. The saying was, "Vote early and often!")

Re: Where is OPHIOPHAGUS???
For many weeks now we have suffered from bad internet connection.
The phone company in charge of the cables finally found out what was wrong: Part of the air cable was tangled up in some trees and had rusted badly. Also some sort of filter had been damaged. Now everything SHOULD work again and I hope to be able to get online when I want!!!
