Re: Estonian Wild Pig Cam 2010
One thing I´m wondering about: Why is the snow shoveled at all? Does anybody know about the reasons (I´m sure Mait is not just shoveling for fun )
Shoveling snow on a feeding ground is absolutely umcommon here - that´s why I am wondering.

I think it is because food would get wasted in the snow. It is expensive to feed them so it is important that all the food goes to good use.

Well, I guess that quite a difference to Germany or Austria - the amount of food that the Boars get is much less here. I do not know the exact laws for all parts of Germany (yes there are laws regarding the amount of food ) but I think usually there is less than 1kg.
And they are fed in order to be hunted so it´s good if some grain remains in the snow because the stay longer...
But on the other hand I do not think that much food (but maybe that still TOO much ) would be wasted in the snow. Boars smell perfect. They smell food that is half a metre below the earth´s surface so they would smell the food in the as well.

Yes, they for sure smell the food!!! But will they be able to pic it all up???
The reason could be something else too of course - maybe okaskera will explain for us???

Awww, well it was just so funny - they noticed that the place looked different, they had to climb the snow "walls".....

Re: Estonian Wild Pig Cam 2010
Maybe they were suspicious "Should we go inside? Isn't it a trap?"
I remember the young BS last year. It took them a while before they understood that it was really easy to cross the nest walls
