Camera opinions, please!
We might have a possibility to get 300 Euros discount on Canon EOS 1000D, with 2 objectives 10-55 and 75-300.
The price would be 499,90 Euros.
I have no idea about this camera and I wonder If I learn to use it
What do you say, camera experts?? Is it worth buying??

I know that I am of no help on this topic. Garina uses a Canon -- but she has been very busy lately and not here on the forum. I hope you don't have to buy it immediately to get the discount.

Re: Camera opinions, please!
I only use Cannon. I have the 'old style' 35mm and the digital. Neither of them have ever given me a lick of trouble. I have always been thrilled with the results of the pictures...even those taken in not the most desireable senarios.
If you don't want it...can I have it????????????

Hello Caysa, You could find comparing programs in internet where
they show you the different cam.types. They make it easier to choose!
As far as I could see the Canon is not a new type..
read about cams, please! The price you mentioned is not at all low.
There are other good cams for less or hardly more expensive!
Does this Canon work with exchangeable objectives and do you think you always have the time to change before the birds flies away or the deer made a jump?? And what when the other objective lies at home on the kitchen table?
Ricky knows a link to a program where you easily can find diff.types. I don't remember now but you will find it..: compare digital cameras...
Don't buy too fast..can it be this type is from 2008?
Ricky has Panasonic, AJ bought last type Pentax with large zoom possibility and now you could see their pics..friend of mine has Nikkon 300 D, Ally has Sony, I got Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ10, with 12 x optical zoom and hardly more expensiv than
the price you mentioned. And it is the newest type!
Nikkon (the coots in The Hague) (do not know the price..).
Be careful with your decision, good luck!

Libel. Pentax.

Re: Camera opinions, please!
The problem with reflex cameras is that they are much bigger than compact cameras. You cannot carry reflex cams in your pocket. That way you will leave it at home more often (and might not be able to take pics of special moments).
That´s why I personally prefer compact cams with a big zoom range (both optical and digital zoom). The quality of the pics taken with a compact cam might not be as good as the quality of the pics taken with a reflex cam. But if you take a good cam the difference really is not too big.
And the newest type not necessarily has to be the best one!
But you cannot really trust any tests regarding the quality of the cams. According to most test my cam should take awfully bad pics. I absolutely do not agree with that!
So I think it really is best to think twice about which features you "dream cam" should have. Then you look which cam fits these features best! Then you decide and buy! That way you will be happiest with you cam.
I think you should not buy a cam just because it it cheap (and 500€ is not even THAT cheap actually). If it is cheap AND it is perfect for you - then by it of course!!
This is the site Ergee was referring to (it´s in German, though). It really helps finding suitable cams http://www.digitalkamera.de/Kamera/

Re: Camera opinions, please!
Many good aspects, thank you!!!!
I have been looking into this cam and it has features that I like but also it lacks some that I realy want. For example you cannot take short video clips. This is a big minus - so I will not spend money on this one. For now I will stick with OLYMPUS....

Re: Camera opinions, please!
Really, it didn't have video capabilities? That's almost unheard of these days. Interesting. And, your right...don't spend a dime on it if it isn't the latest technology. But, as far as the Cannon name goes..I am very satisfied with their quality.
Re: Camera opinions, please!
exactly.. it's the most biggest minus i have on my cam too. i just couldnt belive it at first!caysa wrote:Many good aspects, thank you!!!!

Re: Camera opinions, please!
Maybe you should buy this one

A Giroux Daguerréotype made in 1839
It´s only 732 thousand euros
Seriously, my brother bought a Canon which is very thin and has a 14x optical zoom (equivalent to 28 – 392) and makes High definition videos: it's a PowerShot SX 210 IS. No idea about the price, but he is very happy with it
