Potential problem ahead...... Empty Potential problem ahead......

Post by caysa Fri Nov 06, 2009 1:05 pm

Timo's sister's son was given a dog a few weeks back. Her former owners wanted to put her down - because she was pregnant.
This young man, age 19, took her in. Not knowing what he was doing. Yesterday 13 (yes, thirteen) puppies were born.
His flat is a one room flat. Imagine when these pups grow....
The mom is a cross between German shephard and Rottweiler and Dobermann........................ Potential problem ahead...... Affraid
Dad is unknown.............

I am shivering............. I have this odd feeling..... that I will soon get a phone call....................

I am not in the mood of rearing 13 HUGE puppies that is almost impossible to sell...........

Only part of the pups are born at this stage:
Potential problem ahead...... Ronipennut

Anyone want a dog in about 2 months???? HELP !!

Looks like Timo's Sister's son better strart being REALLY nice to DD Anna, in order to get a group rate for 14 spays and neuters!

I don't think selling is an option. A nominal fee to keep the bad people away is about all they can expect. The fact that they leave there not able to continue the cycle of reproduction will be a huge rehoming point.

Good luck!

I hope maybe later.. But if they are going to have any chance to survive they need their mother very much now.
She had been very badly fed and is extremely thin - just skin and bone now.
I have been giving this young man and his girlfriend a lot of advice today. I so hope they survive.... This young couple is doing a fine job at least trying to save both mother and puppies!

Things work a bit different here in Finland. This case is extremely rare. We cannot spay and nuter puppies, they have to be mature before it is done if the reason is not medical.
Stray dogs really is not a problem in Finland, that is why we do not have this spay and nuter system at all. There is a market for cross breed dogs, because they are cheaper than clean breeds but but.... these pups are not going to be lap dogs and they will need someone who is able to train them or we are in for problems. Cross breed puppies of this size sell for maybe 300-400 euros. Sell them cheaper and you will have a lot of odd people wanting them.
When the puppies grow a bit and we see if they survive - then I will get in contact with some animal shelters. They usually deal only with run-away dogs and cats, and the animals do not stay long. Still people call these places IN CASE there could be a stray waiting for a home. These animal shelter people are pretty good in knowing people, they could redirect the right kind of families to go and see these pups.

Yes, each country will have a different system. Here, in America, where people live in the 'land of waste and throw away's' the animal shelters are running over with mix breed dogs and cats. It's a horrible waste of life, to have to put a perfectly good animal down due to space issues.

Hopefully all these pups will find good, forever, homes.

yes caysa you told me about that dog and 13 puppies

we have s.p.c.a. centre for animals - we are expected to pay for registration for each dog. they do alot of good work there.

i do hope these 13 puppies will get to have good homes one day but best to be speyed before they go? make sure the price of each pup covers price of being speyed.

good luck to all looking after them and their mother. you people are sure great crowd of animal lovers!!! Potential problem ahead...... Icon_smile

Oh Treena, you did not read above Potential problem ahead...... Lol
We can NOT spay and nuter puppies. It is not allowed.
The young couple have already spread the word about the pups. They have got several phone calls and even met some people already.
I think the pups will all find good homes.
