Re: Portuguese BS cam
This year we have three Griffon vulture nests at the cam sight!
On the first one the egg was seen on the 10th January: chick foreseen for the begining of March (3rd to 5th).
On the second one the egg was seen on the 31st January: chick foreseen for the end of March (25th to 27th).
On the third one, the one that is closest to the cam, the egg was seen on the 17th February: chick foreseen for mid April (11th to 13th).

Re: Portuguese BS cam
Good evening Garina,
That's really interesting..3 nests so close together. And there will be
no fighting between the adult birds?
I'm curious to see how it will be end of March!

Re: Portuguese BS cam
Hi Ergee. They are not so close. There are several meters in high between them. And those are not the only ones in Portas de Rodão. There must be, on both sides of the river, near 50 couples breeding at this moment
Re: Portuguese BS cam
That is good to know...no nervous break downs for us when parents
come back to their nests with food or not the real mom or dad lands
in a neighbour's nest...

Re: Portuguese BS cam
Hello Garina, Was it the black bird sitting on the left rock?
And she came back later...she/he knows the best places I hope and
will soon come back to have a nest and eggs and young birds later!
Good luck to all that!

Re: Portuguese BS cam
They will have a nest somewhere around, and maybe another couple also. In a month or two I will go there to find out where their nest is (if we cannot see it from the cam) and try to take some pics
Re: Portuguese BS cam
We have a GV
Yesterday it was still on the egg shelter
But this morning was already very dynamic

The midlle one (still hidden from the trees)

Re: Portuguese BS cam
A new on the griffon vultures cam. This nest is difficult to see but on the weekend we expect that there will be another chick on the nest closer to the cam
