I will be at home.  We live about 3 hours north of where the eclipse will be total, but the traffic heading in that direction is unbelievable.  The cars are bumper to bumper headed in that direction, and there are special trains scheduled to bring people down from Chicago.

The eclipse will be 97% total at my house, but it is turning out to be a cloudy day; so we are keeping our fingers crossed that we will be able to see it.  We have our darkened glasses ready, so I hope we get to use them

I'll report back later.

Please do! The white clouds are getting thicker and darker clouds are beginning to join them. faint

This doesn't look promising, but we still have a little over 2 hours for it to clear up.

Can you get CNN.com? They are showing the sun/moon for the next hour and a half as it goes across the U.S.

It's there somewhere.  It will be another 35 minutes before it is 97% covered.  I feel so sorry for all the foreign travelers who came to the U.S. to see this.  It is raining for those gathered in the states just west of us.

It was suggested to hold the darkened glasses in front of the selfie camera.  This was the best I could get.  It looks more like a crescent when looking through the glasses yourself -- the lens did not pick up the right shape.

It did not get dark, but there was a strange green tint to the light.  Occassionally we would hear a cricket begin to chirp like they do in the evening, and the temperature dropped a few degrees.

The next one that we could see will be in 2024.  Maybe you will come visit us and we could travel a little farther south to experience the total darkness. flower
