Cooper's Dog School
I only took a few yesterday. I'll take more movies next week when they get better. This is a scent training exercise where the dogs need to find an object just by its smell.
The object is a Q-tip ( ) with one of the cotton ends dipped in the scent (we were using anise yesterday). Here is a video of the trainer's dog (also named Cooper) demonstrating. By the way, the cotton scent stick is also inside of a plastic bag!

This is the class picture
Shamus, a Sheltie Shepherd (4 years old); Cooper's neighbor and best friend Augie (6 months old); our Cooper (10 months old); and the trainer's Cooper, a Belgian Shepherd Malinois (6 years old).
After class, the dogs get to play while my husband and the trainer talk.

The malinois is "the enforcer" making sure the two younger dogs play calmly.

Caysa, I guess I should have started a new Cooper's Dog School topic for those pictures rather than put them with the eagles. If you have time.........

How cool!! You have a lovely trainer that teaches even this!! (well actually the dogs live by their nose, it is the owners that need to be tought With scent training you can give so much to Cooper and he will be as exhausted as after a looooong walk!

That is exactly why the trainer includes it! (A tired pup is a good pup.) And it is something we can do in the house when the weather is too bad to go outside.

Too bad for whom
But yes, this is true, it does not include any running or jumping - just use the nose.
We start to do that already when we have a litter. When they are about 5-6 weeks old we dot a track with raw meat and at the end they will find the treat. Guess if they learn to sniff
