I am in deep trouble.....

Post by caysa on Tue Apr 19, 2011 9:42 pm

My PC crashed - I am not sure what happend and why.... No Windows anymore Shocked No program works.
I cannot do anything. Juha is trying hard to recover Windows but so far no luck.
I am desperate - this is a disaster!!
I am on Juhas puter now, but he does not have my programs. And no birdcam either.
No Msn messenger - no nothing....

I know that I don't realize how much I depend on my computer throughout the day until it isn't available! I know exactly how lost you feel without your programs.

(But now you have a great excuse to buy yourself a wonderful new Windows 7 Easter present! )

Oh, I do so hope he can get it back working for you.

This article might be helpful when you do have to replace yours. It discusses the differences between Vista and Windows 7 since you know that you do not like Vista. (I have been using Vista Home Premium for almost 3 years now and have not had any problems with it or adapting to it from XP and I am not very fluent in the technical aspects of computers--I only taught how to use software programs when I was still working. I have heard that the Premium edition has less complaints than the regular Vista.)

http://www.techrepublic.com/blog/10things/10-reasons-vista-haters-will-love-windows-7/536

Hopefully Juha will have your computer working by the time I get this posted!

I had had xp for many years. A year ago I changed to windows 7. I got used to it very quickly as the differences were not that big actually. I cannot really say if windows 7 is better or worse than xp. But it is working fine.

I am sure I would get used to it too but we were lucky enough to recover the XP.
All programs had to be downloaded again tho.... faint I have spent many hours doing that. And the newest version of WMP does not allow screen print slap It is now very similar to VLC in that way. I had to start using Fraps.

Thanks, I saw this one too, later on when I already had loaded Fraps Laughing
I guess getting used to new things is good in a way - otherwise I will start to avoid them.... getting old is not easy - at all

GRRRRRR my puter crashed again. I am going nuts!!
And every time the system is recovered a new user appears.
I am in there 3 times now. I hate this. Why does it have to be so difficult???

No, not Ustream Laughing I don't have to download anything to use Ustream. It is all on internet. It was this "fake Windows warning", that did it all. The puter has been working somehow but there are some root kit errors that we can't get rid of. My puter has to be emptied and Windows re-installed. And as I bought it with windows already installed it has to be done at the shop. Thankfully this shop is the one where Juha buys all computer stuff for the parliament so when I called the guy there he said: Yes, yes, ask Juha to bring it here on Friday (tomorrow) and I will put my boys to work. It will be ready by the time Juha goes home, so he can pick it up.
I have been working hard to move all my files to external hard disc. I think it is all done now. The birdhouse cam is connected to Juha's puter and it seems to work. I did not want to have it down for one day even, because I am sure that IF we can't watch it, then we will have the first egg or something
Juha's computer does not have all the programs I am used to have but maybe I will manage ONE day whistle
Then of course it will be a big job to reinstall everything- starting from internet browser and going on with Java and Flash and players and and and and...... sigh.....
Wish me luck faint

I did NOT get my puter back faint
There are more troubles than just windows.... Don't know when I get it.
They sent me another HP that has Windows 7 lol!
So once again I have to load all programs. But I will!!!!
The weekend would be too long without a puter of my own.

My old computer is DEAD, completely lifeless. They say it is not worth it doing anything more to it.
They suggested I could buy this one, that they gave me to use while the old one was repaired.
It is a HP compaq 8000 elite SFF business PC. So.... by paying 350 euros I will have this one, with Windows 7 lol!
At the moment W7 is licenced to the firm but they will install my own official W7 as soon as I can be without the machine one day....

I guess this was a good solution (well I hope it was ... at least this seems to be a lot faster)
