These things happen fast - TG she made it back to the nest in time
My hens sometimes drop an egg on the floor if their favorite nest is taken - they just can't hold it in long enough ....

I was almost sure she would lay an egg soon as she has stayed at least two nights in the nest.
The original LSE nest seems too quiet tho.... not much activity there...

I think this is cool, way better than an empty nest and as we have the other BS cam with a nesting pair it is even more fun!!

Re: ESTONIAN BS/LSE NEST 2011
I just now looked at LK forums and saw that they have named these LSE's too, the female is TUULI and the male is REMO.
Nice that they have changed their attitude there, they were almost hateful at some point when they understood that this BS nest is now a LSE nest.
Tuuli is sleeping - all is calm

Now they have the 2nd stork cam, which makes it easier to "lose" the 1st... That´s the reason, I guess.

Still only one egg - I am too lazy to look in the old threads but was in not 3 or 4 days between the eggs last time 2 years ago? Maybe we can have another egg tomorrow? Or, for me this one egg is enough too as we know what is going to happen anyway.....

Yes, and quite round too - I wonder how much it weighs???AllyKass wrote:they have very big egg
A normal hen egg is about 60 grams (M-size).... This is perhaps 80 grams
Maybe google knows..... I will look later if no one knows before that.

Men.... Do we need them?? He comes home, wakes me up - brings no food and has nothing to say. He gives me a brief look and flies off again.
Good night!!

Finally! I have been waiting for weeks. It sounds like it is not very close, but it is wonderful to hear nonetheless.Ricky wrote:I heard a cuckoo! (here it has been calling almost all day, too)

Re: ESTONIAN BS/LSE NEST 2011
This morning when I opened this cam Tuuli was in the nest. She moved a bit and I saw 2 eggs. I thought I got a pic of them but I must have pressed the wrong keys
Well, anyway, later on I saw Remo there and the two eggs:
Remo is useless when it comes to guard the eggs
He does NOT want to lay down on them, he tramples around and steps on the eggs and all sorts. He left the eggs alone and went to get some dry grass instead. Tuuli seems to know - she wasn't away for long...

Re: ESTONIAN BS/LSE NEST 2011
It has been 4½ days since the first egg..... No way is the younger one going to survive . Especially as Tuuli has been incubating all the time now.
I am not sure that egg #1 is completely fine.... It has been treated quite roughly by Remo, covered in frogs and so on. I have several times seen him stepping on it with his sharp and big claws. It is a wonder that it is still somewhat intact.
Remo will learn of course..... but hopefully they get at least one chick.
A closeup of the eggs - easy to say which is layed this morning....

Are you sure????AllyKass wrote:eggs with more dots are the second one
Yesterday I already looked how dirty (and maybe even a bit broken) the egg was.
Well, I hope I am wrong and I know eggs are strong but it has looked so bad when daddy steps on them

Re: ESTONIAN BS/LSE NEST 2011
Tuuli has been calling for Remo all day long. At one point she left the nest herself, leaving the eggs alone. She came back quite soon. But no Remo I hope he is ok - he should be bringing Tuuli food.
She seems worried and nervous - looking around and listening - but still no Remo....

Re: ESTONIAN BS/LSE NEST 2011
PHEW!!!
I just saw on LK that Remo has brought food two times this afternoon.
One reason to his absence must have been that Urmas was climbing in the trees He was changing batteries today----
