Murphy's law....
- If anything can go wrong, it will............. and it sure did
A few weeks ago my friend, Mona in Sweden, told me that she has booked a cruise to Helsinki on September 24th.
Mona is using a wheelchair after a car accident 2 years ago. She has had several operations and will perhaps never walk well again. Together with her and helping her comes her daughter + boyfriend. They are onboard the Silja line ferry now and will arrive in Helsinki at 10 am tomorrow morning. The plan was that we would spend the day together in and around Helsinki.
A car is important as there really is no other way to get around.
We have 3 cars.....
The Jeep and my Peugeout and Juha's Mercedes.
Last weekend Timo, Anna's husband drove to Lapland with their car (the one they got from Germany...). He is hunting there and will not be back for one more week. So Anna has my car as I cannot imagine leaving her alone with two children and no car in the middle of nowhere.
The plan was that I could use the Jeep for the little I need to drive. But.... it broke down!! The front axle joint or something like that went KAPUTT....
Ok................ we need to get that repaired... but that will not happen until maybe beginning of October....
Today when Juha was on his way home.... the Mercedes broke down . The water pump gave up No way to get that replaced untill maybe sometimes next week.
Geeesh, what do we do now???
My car is too small, no way 5 adults + a wheelchair will fit in there.
And near us there is no car hire.
The solution: Anna will come here early in the morning. She will squeese herself in between the children's safety seats in the back of my car. We will drive to the outskirts of Helsinki where there is a gas station that have rental cars. The only car they had free for tomorrow is a Toyota Avensis, that hopefully is big enough. Anna will drive back home and we will drive to the harbour. In the evening we will return the car to the same place and then go by train to Helsinki center where we will take a bus. This bus will take us to a village almost 20 kms from here. But that is the closest we can get by bus on a Saturday evening. We will have to call a taxi (might take an hour to get one around here) and get home in that......
Somehow I am not looking forward to tomorrow as much as I was this morning............... SIGH......

Just as soon as you see your friend again and start laughing together, all your trouble to visit with her will be worth it.

When Juha is away.... something ALWAYS happens.....
Juha is in Bucharest, Romanina - has been there since Wednesday....
I miss him a lot, as usual, but I have been amazed that nothing has gone wrong here at home...
Today that changed I woke up with a strange feeling of pressure in my right upper teeth. I did not think so much about it as I was in a bit of a hurry to get ready to go to the christening of my brother's first grandchild. While sitting in the church (waiting for the pastor who was 1 hour late ) I felt my mouth getting rapidly worse. When we had coffee afterwords I did try and eat something but it did hurt too much. Back at home I knew I can't wait until Monday to get this checked but also it is too late to get help today. I called a dentest nurse that is on call 24/7 and she said I have to get help tomorrow. Nearest dentist on weekends is in Helsinki. So there I am going tomorrow, I have an appointment at 11 am. According to the nurse it seems I probably have some kind of infection . I asked her if I can start taking antibiotics now, as I happen to have a few pills of V-Pen 1500. She said that she cant tell me to take them as she is not a dentest but she said that if it was her - she would start the antibiotics immediately.
So here I sit - hating the situation - not knowing what is going on - thinking of what happend to Juha in August.................

Re: Murphy's law....
Stop that kind of thinking! It brings you nothing and is totally
needless!
In the past there were more unexpected things that made you anxious
and really everything has turned out to be not sooooo bad as you
thought!
Why should the same virus that Juha had, now, after so many weeks,
visit you???
There are so many other, not dangerous, possibilities!
I wish you all the best, take your antibiotics and keep in mind that tomorrow
you will know more and a doctor will help you!
And be carefull when driving...all the best! Go to bed early and try
to rest..

Re: Murphy's law....
I am not thinking that this is the same thing as Juha had , which was not a virus but a bacteria. What I meant is that when you have an infection in your teeth or gums, it has to be taken care of because it easily gets into your blood stream and then causes infection in other places (hence Juha's lungs).
And yes - I know that I do worry, sometimes a bit too much, I just feel a bit lonely with this at the moment...
Timo just called me - he will drive me to the dentest tomorrow - he is just so sweet, best son-in-law one can have!!!

Yes, Timo is strong, but I have a hard time seeing him holding down his mother-in-law by force, he would fear her revenge
Those COCAINE drops - can you send me some????
Might work for almost any other illness too!!
