Thank you, Ally.  It has been rainy here for the last two days, but it has finally cleared off tonight so maybe there will be fireworks after all.

It is 90 degrees here (32.2 C) so we are not going to do much celebrating. The usual get together with friends has been cancelled this year because of the virus. Although it looks like there are a lot of ignorant Americans partying without masks or social distancing and the infection numbers are rapidly rising, so we don't mind staying home and safe (so far).

oh, poor you! we had heating wave, too, but now already few days are raining and our apartments had cooled down and we can live normal and we all live normal life, almoust the same normal life before the virus, we have 0-2 infected a day and now people not affraid awfully this virus. you need hold your quarantine correctly, as our people did, someones not come out two weeks and this helped much to stop the virus spreading. hope you could stop virus, too!

Sorry! I total forgot the 4th of July. What is strange because I have 3 friends that have their birthdays on the 4th of July and we always joke about the "Born in the 4th of July" but this year the talks were almost like yours: virus, quarentene, etc...
In Portugal this is crazy.. they try to blame parties of young people but the problem is very concealed to same neighbourhoods around Lisbon where the persons that have to work on factories and places with lot of people, use crowded public transports and bring the disease to homes where they live with large families in 2 rooms. But I think now that they are more careful and the municipalities are managing to separe people that are ill from the others.
And now everybody is afraid because lots (thousands) of young Dutch came here to celebrate the finish of their courses and go around the beaches and small restaurants and bars and streets. But it seems that until now nothing happened because of them…
Let's see what the future is
(I have so much work that I don't go around much, with meetings by skype or zoom… from time to time I try to go some days outside but for areas far from Lisbon and the big cities)

i wish streght to you....and could you give more eat for your humour intestinal! even in these harder time?
you wondered why Spain did not allow Portugal free movement and i wondered why Estonia not allowed Portugal free movment, but gave it to Spain, where have had very hard times with corona. Healt Board make it's decisions looking numbers and seems Portugals numbers are not good. you need harder quarantine....it's good, then they understood, that ill poeple need separate. our empty of tourists hotels provided an opportunity for medical professionals and rescuers to sleep there, to protect, that their families not get virus, even it may happen with them. i was lived in quarantine time normal life, because i needed to go work as usual and me helped regular trips to nature...because most of people-clients was so depressed and our additional work was consolation and encouragement ) and as you know all hard times will ends sooner or later anyway, care yourself )
btw. they had found that under the sun and fresh air virus live only half hour!
