The nest is located in a large botanical garden ( http://www.norfolkbotanicalgarden.org/home ). When the gardens are open during the day there is usually someone operating the camera, so we are lucky to see a lot of close-up shots when something interesting is going on or see the camera pan over to the surrounding grounds to follow the eagles when they leave the nest.

I was trying to catch the moment - but of course missed it!
Let's hope the third egg makes it too!

They are so tiny - it is really a wonder that a huge parent bird actually is able to feed these tiny one. Just to be in the same nest without killing them by mistake seems like a miracle...

Re: American Bald Eagle - Norfolk Botanical Gardens (Virginia)
Their apparent smallness is misleading. Each will gain a pound a week for a while (that's a lot of fish eating!) And they will be 12 inches tall after just 3 weeks with their beaks and feet being near to adult size. That is just amazing!
But you are right, they are so much smaller than the adults now. Both mom and dad seem to be very careful when moving around near them.

They are in the southern United States, so it is usually warmer than where I live. Right now the daytime temperatures are anywhere between 14 and 21 Celsius. This new nest seems to be in the direct sun more than last year's nest.

The family is so cute and the parents already know so well what to do.
I think it might be our only chance to see eaglets this year....
