Re: Estonian Wild Pig Cam 2010
Elk = Alces alces? And moose? I thought it was the same
edit: I saw it's the same
These are young or females? No antlers
edit again: they loose their antlers after mating, is that so?
Anyway I never saw one so "close"
This cam never stops to astonish me

I love the ravens - they kept track of the moose - not going too close

Re: Estonian Wild Pig Cam 2010
I stole your picture, Garina and edited it a bit to see better.
I am pretty sure we have a mom with twins here.
It is quite a usual sight here around us. The calves will be moving around with mom until the next calves are born in May (The mom is probably half way in her pregnancy now, it takes around 8 months.

Re: Estonian Wild Pig Cam 2010
Some Moose pics from me....
I only saw 2 Moose - I guess these were a cow with her calf (native speakers: are this the right terms?). The 3rd one probably was a one-year-old (edit: or another calf as Caysa says - and I think she is right. A 1-year-old would be bigger than the calf. I didn´t think about that --> cow + 2 calves!! )
On this pic there also is the first Hooded Crow of this season

Yes, they are called cow, bull and calf.
And the cow gets rid of older calves when she has the new one(s). The ones that move with mom are always less than a year old.
This is one reason why May is such a dangerous month in the traffic. The calves are suddenly left to manage on their own and they are all over... they look for an area of their own.
Ricky - is it imageshack that causes this?? Your pics take forever to load

I see the perfectly too, once the load - but it takes a lot longer for them to load than Photobucket pics.
