Re: Laaly's room
can somebody give me some advice. i have thinking here that i feel so sorry about my cat. he really want's to go outside. but i need some assuredness that i can get him back if he wouldnt come back by himself for some reason. he has been outside before when he lived in country. In Tallinn i havent let him outside. but now where the wethers are so beautyful i feel so sorry for him. but i want to put a collar on him. is it safe for a cat outside? i want to attach to the collar a little plate with my number. but can the collar be a danger for him outside?

I have hardly any experience with cats. But of course the collar could be dangerous in case it gets stuck to a bush, branches or whatever and nobody notices.
I know that for dogs some collars do exists that the dog can get rid of in case it gets stuck. Might be there is something similar for cats...

yea, i just invent something like that i just cut the collar and needled some elastic band between the two ends. in case he stuck now it will easely drag and come off. i hope he will come back...Ricky wrote:I have hardly any experience with cats. Oh boy....... I once used a collar on a cat we had. It was supposed to be safe............ hud rubber band and all that.
One day we heard the cat crying - he was on his way home but slowly slowly............... And what did we find??? He had got his front paw inside the collar (probably because it was elastic) and the collar ended up going from around the neck on one side down under the armpit on the other side. The skin in the armpit needed stitching and he was on antibiotics for quite some time. I do not recommend it................

Yes, the ID tag is very clever - it just takes a vet or a animal shelter, that has the reader, to find the info, but usually these are the places that people contact when they find a stray animal.

I am glad to hear that he got back okay -- it has been a few days since we heard that he was refusing to come inside. He is pretty smart to know that your grandmother will take him back into his own home.
