Only thing, that you can't bake is the icing, that must be put on afterwords
I had no idea
I've no experience in cake decoration, but I don't think that here this type of decorations exist
It has started....
They construction bits are baked...... and now hardening on the kitchen table.
Maybe we can assemble it tonight....... That is - IF I can keep the dogs away from the kitchen

Here is the gingerbread church now. It did not come out as good as I hope but it will do .
I had to assamble it on my own as Juha is working very late every evening and I needed my kitchen table back
You really nedd at least 4 hands to do it, so many parts and the melted sugar is sooooo hot....

It might be good now, but you cant eat it yet - only a few weeks after Christmas, and then it is NOT so good anymore

It's beautiful Caysa...no matter what you may think. If I were to make one, there would be a lump of dough, baked hard on the board with a dollup of icing on top and maybe a cherry!

You will see..... I will take pictures when they are ready
You can use smaller containers too, of course. They just have to be shaped so that you can tip the lantern out. You can do it in your freezer even!
I saw that even Holland is having a bit of frost in the upcoming days. You could make a small lantern in your freezer and then put it outside when it's ready??
Maybe something like this? Big enough to hold a candle inside without it touching the walls.

I like this one more than the one you say
This looks more like an old church in an old village
Re: December... and Christmas !!!
Awwww thanks!! Well this one looks cool in the dark with the lights inside. I use a tiny light chain - I think it has 15 lamps.

Re: December... and Christmas !!!
OK, the ice lanterns..... I was too hasty to try the first one last night - when I tipped it over it broke . So be patient!! The ice on the top in the bucket freezes the most. It can be fairly thick and still it is easy to knock a hole in the other end.
This morning I took a bucket inside. I like to use a plastic washbowl when I tip the bucket over but it is not necessary.
Then I shower the bucket for a short while to get it off. At the same time the bottom of the lantern melts flat too. It becomes uneven when it freezes.
Now its time to knock the hole. It is easy. I use a hammer but almost anything will do it.
Then tip out the water
And take it outside and put a candle in. VOILA!
